Velontra is revolutionizing space access using a hypersonic, air-breathing first-stage aircraft and is looking for passionate, experienced, and gritty candidates to make this dream a reality.

Velontra is hiring for the role of Senior Aerodynamics Engineer. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who works well with others, in small teams, and with minimal direction. This ideal candidate has extensive experience in the conceptual design of high-speed flight vehicles and has seen their efforts culminate in actual flight. Additionally, the ideal candidate has owned hardware at some point in their career.

Responsibilities:

Once hired the Senior Aerodynamics Engineer will lead the company's conceptual design efforts across a multitude of supersonic/hypersonic flight vehicle applications. This will include the implementation of an integrated design tool chain.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in physics or engineering discipline
• 3+ years experience working with conceptual design of high-speed flight vehicle applications
• Ability to work well within small teams with minimal direction
• Experience in conceptual design of high-speed flight vehicles
• Knowledge of external CFD and associated industry standard tools like cart3d
• This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with trajectory design and optimization of high-speed flight vehicles
• Experience with 6-DOF simulation of high-speed flight vehicles
• Experience with C++ and Python
• Experience with engineering CAD & GD&T
• Experience with flight applications of candidates conceptual design effort(s); preferably high-speed
• Hardware ownership experience
• Previous startup experience
• Previous experience at large aircraft OEM
• Knowledge of air-breathing propulsion systems

• Must be willing to relocate to Greater Cincinnati/Dayton Ohio area
