Velontra successfully completed testing of one of the world’s smallest ramjets. A ramjet functions by using a platform’s velocity as a way to raise pressure without heavy and complicated turbo machinery. This has been used on aircraft like the SR-71. We developed a test facility to simulate the high pressure and temperature air that the inlet would see at speeds over Mach 2. This specific test pushed the bounds of ramjet technology by demonstrating that ramjet geometry can be scaled down significantly while still functioning and sustaining flame.
